Joseph M. Palmaccio has been mastering major and independent album projects of all styles of music for more than 20 years.  His mastering of hundreds of albums for an enormous variety of artists, producers, and record labels has earned him an industry-wide reputation as a highly respected expert in the field of mastering.  Joseph's expertise allows him to skillfully master anything from the latest digital single to timeless catalogs of the past.

From 1999 until opening The Place in 2006, Joseph was Senior Mastering Engineer at Sony Music Studios in New York City.  Other former posts include Sterling Sound (1995-1998) PolyGram Studios (1990-1995) and Bonneville Broadcasting (1988-1990).

Joseph was born in rural South Carolina and moved to the Chicagoland area during elementary school.  He is a graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington where he majored in telecommunications and minored in religious studies.  Joseph studied trumpet for many years growing up, then realized his real passion of drumming.  He plays, builds, and selectively collects drums to this day.

Contemporary projects recently completed at The Place include mastering for AC/DC, Jewel, Montgomery Gentry, Taylor Swift, Eleisha Eagle, Pico Vs. Island Trees, Tanya Tucker, Virgin Millionaires, Kenny Rogers, Gordon Mote, David Olney,
Willie Nelson, Lori McKenna, The Gaither Vocal Band, and Chris Sligh.

Major historic restoration work includes Muddy Waters' Breaking it Up, Breaking It Down, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame LIVE, The Jacksons LIVE, The Ike and Tina Turner Story 1960-1975, the series Legends of the Grand Ole Opry, Ray Charles' Early Hits: The Hollywood Recordings, and Hank Williams The Unreleased Recordings which alone involved nearly two months of restoration and mastering work.
